Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: Mastermind's Wife Arrested, Nationwide Hunt On

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) question paper leak has arrested Suman Gupta, wife of the alleged mastermind Bijendra Kumar Gupta, from Patna. The arrest was made on Tuesday.

According to police, Suman Gupta's role in providing financial assistance to other accused persons came to light during the investigation. She will be brought to Thane and produced before a court for further legal proceedings.

This is the fourth arrest in the case. Meanwhile, the SIT has launched a nationwide manhunt for the alleged kingpin, Bijendra Kumar Gupta, 44. Investigators said Gupta operated under multiple aliases and is suspected to be involved in four to five examination paper leak cases, including the JEE paper leak in Odisha in 2023.

The Maharashtra TET is a state-level exam for recruitment of teachers in primary and upper primary schools. The paper leak, which came to light earlier this year, has led to multiple arrests and a widening investigation.
