Maharashtra Temple Roof Collapse: 4 Dead, 20 Feared Trapped in Parbhani
At least four people have been killed and 20 others are feared trapped after the roof of a temple in Yashwadi village, Parbhani district, Maharashtra, collapsed on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:30 PM when a slab in the 'sabha-mandap' (outer hall) of the Yashwadi temple caved in during ongoing construction work. Devotees present at the site were caught under the debris.
Rescue operations were launched immediately by the police and district administration. Teams are working to reach those believed to be buried beneath the rubble. The injured have been shifted to the Parbhani District Civil Hospital for treatment.
The temple is located about 190 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of people inside at the time of the collapse.
“The slab of the temple’s ‘sabha-mandap’ collapsed around 3.30 pm. The police and district administration have sent their teams, and a rescue operation is underway,” a police official told PTI.
