Maharashtra Minister Unaware of TET Paper Printing in Agra, Claims BJP MLA

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Maharashtra BJP legislator Sudhir Mungantiwar stated that School Education Minister Dada Bhuse privately admitted he was unaware that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination papers were printed in Agra. The TET, scheduled for June 28, was postponed after a suspected paper leak in Thane district.

Mungantiwar, speaking to reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan during the state legislature session, said the minister's admission reveals serious lapses in the School Education Department's functioning. He added that Bhuse now plans to conduct the exam online with locally prepared question papers.

The TET 2026, which affects approximately six lakh candidates, was called off a day prior after police in Thane found a portion of the question paper leaked. The Bhiwandi Police have arrested four individuals from Bihar and Haryana, including the wife of an absconding suspect. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the case, with initial findings indicating an inter-state racket.

Minister Bhuse, from the Shiv Sena faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, was not available for comment. Opposition parties have criticized the state government, alleging negligence and demanding a thorough review of all state-level examinations.

Mungantiwar urged the minister to conduct a comprehensive audit of every government-organized exam to ensure fairness and prevent future leaks. The controversy adds to ongoing national debates over examination paper leaks, with the BJP-led Union government facing similar criticism over the NEET-UG leak.
