Leaders across party lines honour P.V. Narasimha Rao on 105th birth anniversary
Political leaders from various parties paid tributes to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his 105th birth anniversary at an event organised by the Akhila Brahmana Sanghala Aikya Vedika in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (June 28, 2026).
Former Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao urged the Centre and the state government to officially commemorate both the birth and death anniversaries of Bharat Ratna P.V. Narasimha Rao, stating that the former Prime Minister's contributions to the nation deserve wider recognition. He described P.V. Narasimha Rao as the only Telugu leader to have served as Prime Minister, Chief Minister of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, and president of the Indian National Congress. He also highlighted the late leader's proficiency in 16 languages.
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat said that India's economic transformation under P.V. Narasimha Rao created opportunities that encouraged talented Indians working abroad to return and contribute to the country's development. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from the former Prime Minister's rise from a farming family to becoming one of the architects of modern India's economic reforms.
Former Special Duty Officer to P.V. Narasimha Rao, a person named Prasad, recalled his six-year association with the late leader and spoke about his simple lifestyle, administrative approach, and cordial relations with political leaders across party lines.
Other leaders who paid tributes included Visakhapatnam South MLA Ch. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, NTR Vaidya Seva Trust Chairman Seethamraju Sudhakar, BJP leader Suhasini Anand, and YSR Congress Party leaders Botcha Jhansi and Dronamraju Srivatsava.
Earlier, Mr. Sribharat, Mr. G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, MLC Botcha Satyanarayana, and others garlanded the statue of P.V. Narasimha Rao near the Circuit House.
