Lawn bowls pair, boxer Siwach shine on subdued Day 3 for India at Commonwealth Games

On the third day of the Commonwealth Games, India witnessed mixed results, with the women's lawn bowls pair of Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh, and boxer Sachin Siwach delivering notable performances.

The lawn bowls women's pair recorded a victory, providing a bright spot for the Indian contingent. However, in the men's singles, Putul Sonowal suffered his first defeat after two consecutive wins earlier in the Games.

In swimming, Dhakshan Shashikumar (3:58.09 seconds) and Aryan Nehra (4:00.26 seconds) failed to qualify for the final of the 400-metre freestyle event.

The wheelchair women's basketball team faced a heavy loss, going down 1-16 to Wales in their Group B match.

Boxer Sachin Siwach, considered a medal prospect, overcame familiar opponent Keoma Al-Ahmadieh of Canada with a 4-1 split decision in the men's first round bout at the SEC Centre. The 26-year-old Siwach is scheduled to face England's William Hewitt in the round of 16.

Overall, the day was largely subdued for India, with limited success across disciplines.
