Kozhikode DIET launches AI-driven programme to guide students' careers
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Kozhikode, Kerala, has introduced a new programme named 'IntelliTrait' aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills and job orientation among school students. The initiative is being implemented in 17 higher secondary schools and an equal number of high schools in the district during its first phase.
U.K. Abdunnasar, Principal of DIET, said that students often choose higher education paths without understanding their own inherent skills or interests, leading to mismatches in their studies and careers. The project aims to provide a scientific solution to this challenge. 'It was conceived under the principle “The right person in the right place”. An AI-assisted platform has been created based on Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, Steven Rudolph’s theory of multiple natures, and Daniel Goleman’s theory of emotional intelligence. Through this, the thought process of students, their learning methods, problem-solving skills and abilities, and emotional maturity can be scientifically evaluated,' Mr. Abdunnasar explained.
The project will be rolled out in two phases. In the first phase, teachers nominated by DIET will be trained by Kozhikode-based TSEEP Academy to become certified master teachers. In the second phase, these master teachers will train other teachers. Subsequently, online camps in Malayalam and English, each lasting 90 to 120 minutes, will be conducted in schools for students.
Career guidance will be provided to both students and their parents by teachers and counsellors. Existing computer labs in schools will be fully utilised for the programme. Mr. Abdunnasar added that higher educational institutions and start-ups will be linked to the project at a later stage to expand entrepreneurial ideas among students and mentor them.
The official launch of 'IntelliTrait' was held at Farook Training College in Kozhikode. T. Mohammed Saleem, College Principal, inaugurated the event. Aslam Bukhari, founder director of TSEEP Academy, spoke about the project. The launch was followed by technical sessions on 'Understanding multiple intelligences and holistic student assessment' and 'Experiencing IntelliTrait: live demonstration and hands-on exploration'.
