Kota: 18-year-old JEE Aspirant Dies in Suspected Suicide
An 18-year-old student preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) died after allegedly jumping from a flyover in Kota late on Saturday night, Rajasthan Police reported on Sunday. The incident occurred around 11 pm, and the student was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries at 6.30 am on Sunday.
The student, who hailed from Araria district in Bihar, had moved to Kota in January this year to prepare for the JEE examination. She was residing in a Paying Guest (PG) accommodation in the Vigyan Nagar area. The police have not yet confirmed the cause of death and are awaiting the arrival of her family members for further investigation.
Vigyan Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Mukesh Kumar Meena stated, 'The student died after jumping from a flyover. She was 18 and a half years old. The body has been kept in the mortuary. Further action will be taken upon the arrival of her family members.'
Kota, known for its numerous coaching institutes, has seen several such incidents in the past, raising concerns about the mental health and academic pressure faced by students. Authorities have initiated counselling and helpline services in the city to address these issues.
This incident is currently under investigation, and no further details have been released.
