Kolkata Warehouse Collapse: Dozens Trapped, Army Joins Rescue
A warehouse under construction collapsed in Kolkata's Taratala area on Wednesday afternoon, trapping an estimated 50 to 60 workers under the debris. The incident occurred while concrete casting was in progress, causing the roof to give way.
Rescue operations began immediately, with local residents initiating efforts before emergency responders arrived. So far, six to seven people have been rescued and taken to nearby hospitals. The Army has been deployed to assist in the search and rescue operations.
Personnel from the disaster management department, Kolkata Police, fire brigade, and rescue teams are present at the site. The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, and investigations will follow once rescue work is completed.
Authorities have urged caution as the debris remains unstable, but efforts to locate and free those trapped continue round the clock. The condition of those rescued is not yet known.
