Kerala Health Minister Orders Probe into Rs 19.13 Lakh Tennis Club Membership from Public Funds

Thiruvananthapuram, July 19: Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has ordered an inquiry into the alleged misuse of public money by the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL) for obtaining a corporate membership at the Thiruvananthapuram Tennis Club.

The minister directed the Health Department Principal Secretary to conduct an immediate probe following media reports that Rs 19.13 lakh was spent on the membership and related expenses. The inquiry will examine the circumstances under which KMSCL, a state-owned corporation, secured the corporate membership, the details of all financial transactions involved, and the officials responsible for the decision.

According to the minister, such actions constitute a serious misuse of public funds. The investigating officer has been instructed to submit a detailed report within two weeks, including recommendations for further action. Mr. Muraleedharan stated that strict action would be taken against those found responsible after the investigation is complete.
