Kerala Bans Plastic in All Forest Areas, Says Minister Shibu Baby John

Forest Minister Shibu Baby John announced on Saturday that plastic will be completely banned in all forest areas across Kerala. The decision is part of efforts to strengthen environmental conservation, he said.

The minister made the announcement while speaking at the passing-out parade of the Student Police Cadet (SPC) unit at Chavara Sankaramangalam Government Higher Secondary School. He said the SPC project helps mould disciplined, punctual and ideal citizens.

Mr. John also stated that the government plans to revive Social Forestry Clubs in schools. Students will be actively involved in all upcoming environmental protection initiatives, he added.

During the ceremony, the minister distributed prizes to cadets who delivered outstanding performances. Among those present were Chavara block panchayat president Shamla Noushad, Panmana grama panchayat president Santhosh Thuppassery and district panchayat member Jayalekshmi.
