Karnataka Woman, 75, Killed Over Rs 20,000 Loan; Neighbour Arrested

In Karnataka's Ramanagara district, a 75-year-old woman was allegedly murdered after she went to recover a Rs 20,000 loan from a neighbour. The police have arrested two individuals in connection with the crime.

The victim, identified as Sushilamma, a resident of Sangabasavanadoddi village, left her home on June 15, informing her family that she was going to collect the money she had lent to Girija, a 36-year-old neighbour. When she did not return, her family launched a search and later filed a missing person complaint.

According to the police, the accused Girija and her friend Mahesh, 42, allegedly strangled Sushilamma, stole her jewellery, and dumped her body near a railway track. The police stated that Girija had joined the search for Sushilamma to avoid raising suspicion. Both accused were arrested by the Ramanagara rural police.

The incident has shocked the local community, highlighting the dangers that can arise from informal lending arrangements. The police are continuing their investigation.
