Karnataka Slashes Fresh A-Khata Fee to 2% Until August 2026
The Karnataka government has reduced the approval fee for obtaining a fresh A-Khata under the single plot approval scheme from 5% to 2% of the property's guidance value. The concession is effective until August 23, 2026, aligning fresh A-Khata fees with the reduced charge already applicable for converting B-Khata to A-Khata.
Previously, the fee for B-to-A conversion had been temporarily reduced to 2% for a 100-day period ending on August 23, 2026. Now, fresh A-Khata applicants will also benefit from the same lower rate, eliminating the discrepancy that had caused confusion among citizens and associations.
The decision follows a proposal from the Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), who noted that different fee structures for similar categories of applications were creating confusion. The Commissioner estimated that around five lakh applications are expected for fresh A-Khata, but only about 7,000 have been received so far.
Adopting a uniform 2% fee for both categories is expected to encourage more citizens to apply, thereby increasing revenue for the five city corporations under the GBA. The Government Order formalizes this change, effective from the date of issuance.
