Kanpur Training Accident: Cadet Pilot Hit by Propeller, Hospitalised

A serious safety incident occurred at a flying training organisation (FTO) in Kanpur late on Friday, June 26, when a girl cadet pilot was struck by a moving propeller after being asked to deplane while the aircraft's engines were still running. The incident left her grievously injured, according to sources, and she is currently hospitalised.

The cadet had been aboard a twin-engine trainer aircraft and was instructed to disembark while the propellers were operational. As she moved away from the plane, one of the propellers struck her back. The FTO allegedly did not report the accident to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the regulatory body for civil aviation in India.

Details of the incident and any subsequent action taken by authorities are still awaited. The DGCA has not yet commented on the matter. The incident raises questions about safety protocols at training organisations and the enforcement of reporting requirements.
