Justice R.V. Ghuge Takes Oath as New Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court
Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge was on Wednesday administered the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath at a ceremony held in Court Room 1 of the High Court, a room traditionally reserved for the Chief Justice.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose, along with other dignitaries and members of the legal fraternity. The presence of the executive and legislative heads underscored the importance of the judiciary in upholding the Constitution.
Prior to this appointment, Justice Ghuge served as a judge of the Bombay High Court. His elevation to the Chief Justiceship of the Calcutta High Court marks a significant step in his judicial career, bringing with it decades of experience on the bench.
