Jana Nayagan Box Office: Vijay's Film Earns Rs 217 Crore Worldwide in Four Days
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay's latest film, 'Jana Nayagan,' has collected an estimated Rs 32 crore net in India on its fourth day of release, taking its total India net collection to Rs 124.75 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film's India gross stands at Rs 145.98 crore, while its worldwide gross has reached Rs 217.48 crore.
The political thriller, which released on July 23, saw an overall occupancy of 69.04% across 12,107 shows on Day 4. Morning shows recorded 59.23% occupancy, afternoon shows 76.62%, evening shows 78.46%, and night shows 61.85%. Coimbatore and Chennai emerged as the strongest markets with occupancies of 93.5% and 91.8%, respectively, while Bengaluru reported a lower occupancy of 54.3%.
Language-wise, the Tamil version contributed Rs 27.30 crore with 67% occupancy across 6,347 shows. The Hindi version added Rs 3.35 crore with 19% occupancy from 4,557 shows, and the Telugu version contributed Rs 1.35 crore at 24% occupancy across 1,203 shows. Overseas markets contributed Rs 10 crore, taking the overseas total to Rs 71.50 crore.
In an interview, director H. Vinoth commented on the film's reception, saying, 'Whenever a Vijay sir movie comes out, for about a week people say this is good, that isn’t good, this doesn’t work, that doesn’t, and all that. Then after a week, they say it’s not that great after all. Six months later, it starts becoming a big hit in society.'
The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Prakash Raj. Produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions, the music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
