Jammu and Kashmir: Flash floods and landslides hit Doda for second day, NH-244 blocked
For the second consecutive day, flash floods and mudslides struck Thathri town in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Tuesday following heavy rainfall, causing extensive damage to public and private property.
The national highway connecting Doda and Kishtwar (NH-244) was blocked at multiple locations due to landslides, prompting authorities to suspend vehicular traffic on the route.
Officials reported that several houses, commercial establishments, and vehicles were damaged as flood waters carrying mud and debris swept through various localities of Thathri town. Some vehicles were reportedly washed away in the deluge.
No loss of life has been reported so far. The district administration stated that it is closely monitoring the situation. Restoration teams have been deployed to clear debris and restore traffic on the highway. An assessment of the damage caused by the flash floods is currently underway.
