Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station's Rs 125 Crore Redevelopment to be Inaugurated by PM Modi on July 17

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantt railway station on July 17. The station, which is over 110 years old, has undergone modernisation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a flagship initiative of Indian Railways aimed at transforming stations into world-class passenger facilities.

The station falls under the jurisdiction of the Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway. The ABSS, launched in 2022, focuses on the development and upgradation of railway stations across the Indian Railways network. The scheme involves creating comprehensive master plans, enhancing multimodal connectivity, and improving station accessibility for passengers.

On Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu visited the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantt railway station to review preparations for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Modi. The minister inspected various facilities and assessed the final arrangements ahead of the inauguration.

The redevelopment project, costing approximately Rs 125 crore, aims to provide modern amenities and a better travel experience for passengers. The upgraded station includes improved waiting areas, better signage, accessibility features for persons with disabilities, and enhanced circulation spaces. The initiative is part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to modernise its infrastructure and improve service quality.
