Jaipur Woman Arrested for Alleged Jaish Links, Planned to Marry Masood Azhar Aide

A woman from Jaipur has been arrested on suspicion of having links with the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), officials said on Tuesday. According to law enforcement sources, the woman was planning to marry an aide of JeM chief Masood Azhar, who is considered one of India's most wanted terrorists.

The arrest was made by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police, which has been investigating the case for several weeks. Officials said the woman was in contact with the aide through encrypted messaging applications and had allegedly agreed to marry him as part of a larger conspiracy to facilitate terrorist activities.

Masood Azhar, the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammad, is believed to be based in Pakistan. The organisation has been implicated in numerous attacks in India, including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack. The United Nations, India, and several other countries have designated JeM as a terrorist group.

Officials stated that the woman's plans to marry Azhar's aide were uncovered during surveillance of suspected individuals. They did not disclose the name of the aide or further details about the woman's background, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.

The arrested individual has been produced before a local court, which remanded her to police custody for further interrogation. Security agencies are examining her digital footprint and financial transactions to determine whether she was part of a larger network.

This case highlights the continuing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on terrorist networks operating through online platforms. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities and cautioned against radicalisation through social media.
