India's Tolerance Should Not Be Mistaken for Weakness, Says NSA Ajit Doval
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday said that India's tolerance should not be mistaken for weakness, asserting that the country's approach of restraint is rooted in its democratic values and strategic maturity.
Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Doval emphasised that India has always chosen dialogue and diplomacy over confrontation, but this does not imply any lack of resolve or capability to defend its interests. "Tolerance is a strength, not a vulnerability," he said, as per official statements released after the event.
The NSA's remarks come at a time when India faces multiple security challenges, including cross-border terrorism, cyber threats, and maritime tensions in the Indo-Pacific region. Doval highlighted that India's security apparatus remains fully prepared to respond to any challenge, while adhering to constitutional norms and international law.
He further said that India's policy of positive engagement with neighbours and global powers is based on a clear understanding of its national priorities. "We believe in peaceful coexistence, but we are equally clear that our sovereignty and integrity are non-negotiable," he added.
