Indian Railways Clarifies: Viral Video of Stone Pelting Not on Hydrogen Train
New Delhi: Indian Railways has issued a clarification after a video claiming a stone-pelting incident on the country’s first hydrogen train went viral on social media.
The train, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, operates between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, covering an 89-km section of Northern Railway’s Delhi Division.
In an official statement, Northern Railway stated that the viral video is an old clip and does not show a hydrogen train. The train in the footage is actually operated by a WAG-12 locomotive, which is an electric freight locomotive, not the hydrogen-powered train.
The railway zone further confirmed that the hydrogen train is running as per its scheduled timetable without any disruption. No stone-pelting incident has occurred on the hydrogen train, and the video being circulated is misleading.
This clarification comes amid growing interest in India’s first hydrogen train, which is part of the government’s push towards green and sustainable transportation in the railway sector.
