Indian Deportations from US Triple: 617 in 2023 to 2,025 in 2025

NEW DELHI: The number of Indians deported from the United States has more than tripled from 617 in 2023 to 2,025 in 2025, according to government data presented in Parliament by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday. Till the end of March 2026, 414 Indians have been deported from the US.

After the US, the highest number of deportations of Indian nationals till March this year were from the United Kingdom (57) and Cyprus (53).

Jaishankar also informed Parliament about action against organised human-trafficking and illicit travel-agent syndicates. He said that as of October 2025, a total of 3,505 unregistered agents had been notified on the eMigrate portal. “As and when complaints against illegal agents or dubious firms luring Indian nationals with false recruitment offers are received, such matters are referred to state police,” he said.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issues advisories through the eMigrate portal, social media and other platforms on the perils of fake job rackets and ways to avoid them.

The issue of Indian truckers facing action in the US was also raised in Parliament. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that 30 Indians were among 52 people arrested during Operation Checkmate in Arizona in May and would be deported. The government stated it is in touch with US authorities regarding their identity and particulars.
