IIT Kharagpur Marks 75 Years with Extra MTech Seats for National Priorities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has announced a special admission scheme to mark its 75th year of operation. The Director’s Platinum Jubilee Scheme will increase the number of M.Tech seats for the 2026-27 academic session, focusing on disciplines that align with the country’s development goals.

The scheme creates additional seats in selected strategic fields. This move aims to expand opportunities for graduate students who have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and wish to pursue postgraduate studies at a premier technical institute.

The institute shared the notification via social media, stating that the additional seats will be introduced in disciplines closely tied to national priorities and emerging technologies.
