IIIT Lucknow BTech placements hit record highs: average package at ₹40 lakh
The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Lucknow has announced its most successful BTech placement season to date. The average annual package reached ₹40 lakh, while the median package climbed to a record ₹41.5 lakh, according to institute data.
The announcement came alongside a leadership transition. Padma Shri awardee Prof Manindra Agrawal, currently Director of IIT Kanpur, has assumed additional charge as Director of IIIT Lucknow. He takes over from Prof Arun Mohan Sherry, who has been appointed Director of IIM Shillong.
After assuming charge, Prof Agrawal outlined his immediate priorities. “IIIT Lucknow is a young institute with significant potential. My first priority will be to assess its requirements, prepare a long-term strategy and ensure the institute continues to grow,” he said.
The placement figures mark a significant milestone for the institution, which has been steadily improving its industry connections and academic reputation. The record packages reflect the growing demand for skilled graduates in information technology and related fields.
Prof Agrawal, known for his contributions to computer science and recipient of the Padma Shri, brings extensive academic leadership experience. His additional role at IIIT Lucknow is expected to provide strategic guidance as the institute aims to expand its research output and industry partnerships.
Details of the placement season indicate strong participation from leading technology firms and emerging startups. The institute's placement cell reported that multiple students received international offers, contributing to the rise in average compensation.
The leadership change and placement success come at a time when IIIT Lucknow is also focusing on increasing its research footprint and faculty strength. The institute plans to launch new interdisciplinary programmes in the coming academic year.
