Hyderabad: Four Arrested in Illegal Mini Gas Cylinder Manufacturing Racket
The Hyderabad Task Force has dismantled an illegal network involved in the manufacturing and transportation of mini gas cylinders. Four persons were arrested, and 750 cylinders, seven manufacturing machines, and an SUV were seized in connection with two cases registered at separate police stations.
On August 12, the Rajendranagar Task Force intercepted a car on Gaganpahad Road in Shamshabad. The police arrested Mohammad Abdul Hannan, who was allegedly transporting 400 mini gas cylinders from Rajapur to Hyderabad. During questioning, Hannan reportedly told the police that he was transporting the cylinders on the instructions of one Mohammad Bholesha.
Following Hannan's disclosure, Bholesha was taken into custody. He allegedly revealed that Mohammad Shakeel, a resident of Troop Bazaar, was the supplier of the cylinders. The three men were subsequently handed over to the RGIA police, who registered a case against them.
Further interrogation of Shakeel led the police to a godown in Rajapur village, where an illegal manufacturing unit was reportedly operating. Task Force personnel raided the premises and arrested Md. Dilshad, a 45-year-old labourer from Mothi Nagar, Delhi. The police seized 350 mini gas cylinders and seven machines allegedly used in the manufacturing process.
A separate case was registered at the Rajapur police station. In total, law enforcement agencies have seized 750 mini gas cylinders, an SUV, and seven manufacturing machines across the two cases.
According to the police, the cylinders were being manufactured and transported without the required documents and permissions. This raises significant concerns over the unauthorised circulation of such cylinders and their potential misuse, as they may not meet safety standards.
In an advisory to the public, the police have urged people to purchase gas cylinders only from authorised and licensed dealers. They cautioned against buying cylinders from roadside sellers or other unauthorised sources, which could pose serious safety risks. Citizens have also been encouraged to report any illegal manufacturing, sale, storage, or transportation of mini gas cylinders to the authorities.
The arrests reflect the continued efforts of the Hyderabad police to curb illegal activities that endanger public safety. Further investigation into the network is underway.
