Hyderabad Family of 5 in California Crash: 3 Dead, 2 Injured; Emergency Visas Sought
Three members of a family from Hyderabad died and two others were seriously injured in a road accident in California, United States, on Monday night (Indian time), family sources said on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Nazia Salma, her daughter and her son. Her husband, Shaik Naveed, and their younger daughter sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to family members, the vehicle in which the family was travelling collided with another vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities.
Shaik Naveed, a resident of Saidabad in Hyderabad, had moved to the United States about 10 years ago. He was travelling with his wife and three children at the time of the crash.
Naveed's father, Shaik Abdul Sayeed, said the family learnt about the accident after the California police contacted them. He has appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to issue emergency visas to family members so they can travel to the US.
Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan met the family and also urged the External Affairs Minister to facilitate immediate issuance of emergency visas.
