Hyderabad attracts 197 global capability centres since 2024, leads in BFSI sector
Hyderabad has strengthened its position as a leading destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, with 197 multinational corporations establishing or expanding their GCC operations in Telangana since the current state government took office, according to officials.
Data from the state government indicates strong momentum in 2026, with 43 new GCCs announced or operational in the first six months. This follows 70 centres in 2024 and 84 in 2025, putting the city on track to exceed 100 new GCCs this year.
The NASSCOM GCC Landscape Report 2026 notes that Hyderabad has emerged as the leading Indian destination for new Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) GCCs, attracting more than 50% of all such centres established in the country.
Unlike conventional information technology firms that provide outsourced software services, GCCs are wholly owned technology and innovation centres set up by multinational corporations to support global operations, research, product development and business functions.
Officials attribute Hyderabad’s growing appeal to world-class infrastructure, availability of skilled talent, lower operational costs compared to other major cities, and proactive government policies. They expect the investment momentum to continue in the second half of 2026.
Existing GCCs have also expanded their office space and employee strength, particularly in life sciences, BFSI, semiconductor design, engineering research, digital services and product development.
Notable investments in the first half of 2026 include L’Oréal, which established India’s first GCC and the company’s first Beauty Tech Hub in Hyderabad after discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos.
Other expansions or new operations involve T-Mobile, Novartis, Voya Financial, Astera Labs, BluePace, Zurich Insurance Group, Roche Diagnostics, ABB, BASF, Regeneron, Silicon Labs, Nestlé, Reckitt, Uber, Warner Bros. Discovery, American Airlines, InvoiceCloud, Omnicom and Maximus.
Investment activity has increasingly shifted towards high-value sectors such as artificial intelligence, generative AI, life sciences, semiconductors, engineering research and development, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics and global business services.
