Hoax bomb threat on IndiGo flight: handwritten note causes three-hour delay

An IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad was delayed by nearly three hours on Thursday after a handwritten bomb threat note was discovered near the lavatory. The note, which read “Don’t go, bomb hai! Please”, was found by a cabin crew member about 30 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Authorities immediately evacuated the passengers and conducted a thorough search of the aircraft following standard safety protocols. After an extensive inspection, the threat was declared a hoax.

An airline representative filed a complaint at the International Airport Police Station. The police have registered a First Information Report under Sections 125 (rash and negligent act endangering human life or personal safety of others) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

G.K. Mithun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northeast Division, told The Hindu that the police are yet to identify the accused and that a team is working on the case. The police have obtained the passenger list and have launched an investigation.
