Heavy rains claim life: 42-year-old woman electrocuted in flooded Thane street

A 42-year-old woman died after stepping on a live electrical wire submerged in floodwater in Thane's Dombivali East on Thursday evening, officials said. The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The deceased, identified as Shashi Rahul Chakra, had stepped out to purchase ration and snacks for her two children during the downpour in the Hanuman Nagar area, according to police. Despite efforts by residents to rescue her, she died on the spot from electrocution.

The Tilak Nagar police have registered an accidental death report to investigate the cause of the electrocution. Officials from the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation confirmed that the electric line was connected to the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) supply.
