HDFC Bank, Doctors For You Partner to Set Up 10-Bed ICUs in 11 Tamil Nadu Government Hospitals
Chennai: HDFC Bank, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Parivartan, has partnered with the non-profit organisation ‘Doctors For You’ to establish advanced 10-bed intensive care units (ICUs) in 11 government district headquarters hospitals across Tamil Nadu.
The newly equipped ICUs, fitted with critical care infrastructure and essential medical equipment, were handed over to the National Health Mission, Tamil Nadu, with the aim of improving access to quality critical care services in the state. The facilities were formally inaugurated at a ceremony held at the National Health Mission headquarters in Chennai.
The event was presided over by Tamil Nadu Health Minister K.G. Arunraj and Health Secretary Darez Ahmed, along with other senior officials. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions.
HDFC Bank's Parivartan programme focuses on sustainable development in areas such as healthcare, education, and skill development. This partnership with Doctors For You, a humanitarian organisation, is expected to enhance emergency and critical care capacity in government hospitals, benefiting thousands of patients annually.
The ICUs will serve as referral centres for complicated cases requiring intensive monitoring and treatment, thereby reducing the burden on tertiary care hospitals in urban centres. The state government has committed to ensuring adequate staffing and maintenance of these units.
