Gurugram installs new drains, water chutes to combat monsoon waterlogging on key corridor
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has introduced two engineering measures to prevent waterlogging along the Hero Honda Chowk-Umang Bhardwaj Chowk corridor ahead of the monsoon season.
Officials said that 600-millimetre diameter pipelines have been laid to connect surface drains directly with the master stormwater drain. Additionally, new water chutes are being installed to improve drainage efficiency.
The corridor, located along the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (NH-48), is a major arterial route for commuters and commercial traffic. Hero Honda Chowk is a key intersection surrounded by office spaces, the Info Technology Park, and manufacturing facilities such as the Hero MotoCorp plant in Sector 33. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) headquarters is also nearby in Sector 34.
Waterlogging has been a recurring problem in Gurugram during the monsoon, causing traffic disruptions and inconvenience. These measures aim to address the issue along one of the city's most critical stretches.
