Gujarat Gets 22% of Seasonal Rain in 4 Days; Kutch Still Lags Behind
Gujarat has received more than 22 per cent of its seasonal rainfall in the last four days, pushing the state's total to over 53 per cent (487.81 mm) as of Sunday morning. However, the Kutch region continues to face a significant deficit despite recent showers.
According to data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, the state's average rainfall rose from 31.06 per cent on July 22 to 53.67 per cent on July 26. South Gujarat recorded the highest increase, jumping from 49.4 per cent to 77.7 per cent of its seasonal average in just five days.
East Central Gujarat saw its share climb from 20.25 per cent to 45.22 per cent, while North Gujarat registered a 24.78 per cent surge during the same period. Kutch, which had only 3.5 per cent of its seasonal rainfall on July 22, improved to over 18 per cent as of Sunday morning.
Despite this improvement, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts only light to moderate showers for Kutch over the next five days, suggesting minimal additional gains. The region remains the driest in the state, with rainfall well below normal.
The southern parts of Gujarat have already recorded excess rainfall, raising concerns about potential flooding in some areas. The state government has advised farmers and residents to stay updated on weather warnings.
