Gujarat ATS Arrests Five More Suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed Operatives

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday arrested five men allegedly linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The arrests come days after eight others were detained in connection with the same outfit.

According to the police, the five accused are residents of Patan and Banaskantha districts. They have been identified as Bilal Abid Shera (24), Mohammad Ayyub Kadiwala (22), Mohammad Ayyub Sunsara alias Mohammad Khali (20), Mohammad Hasan Hanif Kardiya alias Hasan Haiderpuri (20), and Shafi Raees Mukhi alias Shafi Chhapi (21).

The ATS stated that the men were attempting to conduct test explosions and had carried out at least eight such trials. A case was registered on July 2 based on information from Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsh Upadhyay. The charges include terror financing, conspiracy, membership in a terrorist organisation, and supporting a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, along with conspiracy charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are probing possible links to other modules and activities.
