Government disburses incentives to first-time employees, employers under new jobs scheme

The first disbursal of incentives under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharath Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) commenced on Friday, benefiting both first-time employees and employers who have created additional jobs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme at an event in New Delhi, which was simultaneously screened at a private hall in the NGO Colony here.

According to officials, a total of 1,820 employee beneficiaries from Tirunelveli (800), Tenkasi (301), and Thoothukudi (719) received incentives amounting to ₹83.66 lakh. Additionally, 397 employers from these districts — Tirunelveli (160), Tenkasi (61), and Thoothukudi (176) — were disbursed ₹8.94 crore.

The event in Tirunelveli was attended by Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce, Director of Industrial Safety and Health Vimala, Regional PF Commissioner I Siva Shanmugam, Regional PF Commissioner II G. Sundaresan, Deputy Director of ESIC M.S. Arun, President of Nellai District Small and Tiny Industries’ Association Sanjay Gunasingh, and senior officials from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s Tirunelveli region.

The PM-VBRY aims to encourage formal employment by providing financial incentives to first-time employees and to employers who generate additional jobs. The scheme is part of the government's broader efforts to boost employment and support economic growth.
