Goods train derails near Delhi, over 50 trains cancelled or diverted
New Delhi: A goods train derailment on the Ghaziabad-New Delhi section of the Delhi Division has caused significant disruption to rail services, with Indian Railways cancelling or diverting over 50 trains. The incident occurred when six loaded wagons of a goods train derailed, affecting train operations on this busy route.
According to Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, senior officials including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) are at the site overseeing the restoration work. He confirmed that there have been no reports of casualties or injuries resulting from the derailment.
A total of 53 trains have been affected. Of these, 24 trains have been diverted via the Delhi-New Delhi route. Sixteen passenger trains have been cancelled entirely, while five have been partially cancelled. Eight trains are being regulated via the Anand Vihar route through Moradabad division and North Central Railway (NCR).
The derailment has caused inconvenience to passengers, with many facing delays and cancellations. Railway authorities are working to clear the track and restore normal services as quickly as possible. Passengers are advised to check with railway officials for updates on their specific trains.
