Goldy Dhillon Arrested in Spain; Chandigarh Police to Seek Extradition in Cashier Murder Case
Gurpreet Singh, also known as Goldy Dhillon, a fugitive in a National Investigation Agency (NIA) case related to a firing incident in Sector 5, Chandigarh, has been arrested in Spain. The arrest paves the way for Chandigarh Police to request his extradition to question him in the murder of Janki Das, a chemist shop cashier in Sector 11.
Das was killed on June 13 this year. Police believe Dhillon is a key conspirator in the murder and are also investigating his involvement in an extortion racket targeting businessmen in Chandigarh.
Officials confirmed that the NIA had issued a Red Corner Notice against Dhillon in connection with the 2024 Sector 5 firing case. Following his arrest with the assistance of Indian agencies, Chandigarh Police will now initiate legal proceedings to bring him back to India.
The trial in the Sector 5 firing case is underway before the Special NIA Court in Chandigarh. Before Dhillon's arrest, only he and Goldy Brar were still absconding in that case.
