Freight train crew escapes as wildfire engulfs tracks in Ontario
A freight train in northwestern Ontario passed through a corridor of raging wildfires on Wednesday, with crew members requesting rescue as flames surrounded the train. Dramatic footage from inside the cab shows windows glowing orange as thick smoke and towering flames engulf the railway tracks.
In the video, one crew member is heard saying, 'This could potentially overtake us,' as the blaze intensifies. Another clip captures a crew member urgently speaking to an operator, asking for rescue as quickly as possible. The train eventually escaped the fire zone, and no injuries have been reported.
The incident comes as northwestern Ontario continues to battle a severe wildfire season. According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, there are currently 128 active wildfires burning across the region. The province has declared a state of emergency in several areas, with thousands of residents evacuated from their homes.
