Four Suspected Gang Members Killed, Three Police Injured in Gurgaon Shootout
In a late-night exchange of fire in Gurgaon's Sushant Lok Phase 2, four suspected members of the Deepak Nandal gang were killed and another was injured. Three police personnel from the Gurgaon Police Crime Branch sustained gunshot wounds during the incident on Thursday night.
According to police, Crime Branch teams acted on a tip-off from the police control room about armed suspects in a Mahindra Scorpio. The suspects were allegedly attempting a robbery at a businessman's residence, sources said.
“When the teams reached the Sushant Lok area, the suspects had already opened fire with sophisticated weapons at the residence of a local businessman. Police said the businessman had been receiving extortion threats from a wanted gangster based abroad,” a police spokesperson stated.
The injured policemen were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reported to be stable. The identities of the deceased are being verified. Police have recovered firearms and ammunition from the scene.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about organised crime and extortion rackets operating in the National Capital Region. Investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the gang's activities and any links to other crimes.
