Former Palakkad councillor denied bail in alleged rape case
The Kerala High Court on Monday denied bail to Prasobh Valsan, a former councillor of the Palakkad Corporation, who faces allegations of raping a Dalit woman.
The court had previously rejected his anticipatory bail plea, noting that the prosecution had established a prima facie case. Following that decision, Valsan surrendered to police at the Palakkad Town Station.
Valsan was expelled from the Palakkad District Congress Committee after the allegations came to light. The woman has alleged that Valsan entered her home under the pretense of offering a job and then raped her.
