Five Indian boxers guarantee medals, storm into CWG semifinals

On Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, five Indian boxers secured at least a bronze medal each by winning their quarterfinal bouts on Wednesday. Sakshi Choudhary, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Yadav, and Narender Berwal all advanced to the semifinals in their respective weight categories.

Sakshi Choudhary defeated Caitlin Fryers of Northern Ireland in the women's 51kg quarterfinal. Arundhati Choudhary overcame New Zealand's Morgan Henderson in the women's 70kg quarterfinal. In the men's section, Sachin Siwach beat Treasure Moremi of Botswana in the 60kg category, while Ankush Yadav defeated Jade Micock of Seychelles in the 80kg category. Narender Berwal edged past Michael Seko of Samoa in the men's 90+kg quarterfinal.

With these victories, all five boxers have assured themselves of at least a bronze medal, as the Commonwealth Games does not hold a playoff for the third place. India's boxing contingent continues to perform strongly, adding to the country's medal tally.
