FBI Captures Indian-Origin Man Wanted in Transnational Crime Case
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has marked Indian-origin individual Nitish Kaushal as 'captured' on its wanted list, days after he was named a 'most wanted' fugitive. Kaushal was sought for his alleged involvement in the Bhagwanpuria Organized Crime Group (OCG), a transnational criminal syndicate operating from Punjab, India, and the Central District of California, USA.
According to the FBI, the OCG is involved in serious crimes including murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking, extortion, weapons trafficking, money laundering, and human smuggling. A federal arrest warrant for Kaushal was issued on June 25, 2026, by the United States District Court in Los Angeles, California, charging him with conspiracy under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
The FBI's updated notice now shows Kaushal's status as 'captured,' though details of his arrest or surrender have not been disclosed. The case is part of a larger probe into the Bhagwanpuria OCG, which authorities say has links to criminal networks in India and other countries.
Kaushal's capture marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to dismantle this transnational crime group, which has been linked to violence and illicit activities across borders.
