Cristiano Ronaldo and the entire Portugal team paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota after securing a 2-1 victory over Croatia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 16 match in Toronto.

Following the final whistle, Ronaldo was seen in tears wearing Jota's No. 21 jersey. The forward died in a road accident in Spain last year at the age of 28, shortly after helping Portugal win the UEFA Nations League and qualify for the World Cup.

Portugal came from behind after Croatia took an early lead. Goals from Ronaldo and Gonçalo Ramos sealed the win, setting up a quarter-final clash with Spain.
