ED Searches Homes of Minister Jarkiholi's Brother-in-Law in Money Laundering Probe

On June 24, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches at the residence of Y. Manjunath, Additional Commissioner of Excise in Karnataka, in connection with an investigation into alleged illegal transfer of funds to foreign countries. Manjunath is the brother-in-law of state Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi.

The searches began in the early hours at Manjunath’s home in Hanumanth Nagar, Belagavi, and extended to a friend’s residence in Ainapur village, Athani taluk. The ED also searched Manjunath’s apartment in Bengaluru and properties of his close associates in Mysuru and Arsikere, according to sources familiar with the operation.

Manjunath is the son of Devendrappa, a former Member of Parliament from Ballari. His wife is the sister of Minister Satish Jarkiholi and Bharatiya Janata Party legislators Ramesh Jarkiholi and Balachandra Jarkiholi, highlighting the family’s deep political connections in Karnataka.

The ED’s action is part of a broader probe into financial irregularities. The agency has not yet released an official statement detailing the alleged violations or the findings of the searches. The investigation continues.

No comment has been immediately available from Minister Satish Jarkiholi or his office. The searches come amid heightened scrutiny of money laundering cases by the central agency.

He claims the party first plans to push delimitation under the guise of women's reservation, and that recent defections from opposition parties are part of this strategy.
