Delivery agent arrested for allegedly exposing himself to woman in Bengaluru home
A 22-year-old delivery agent has been arrested in Bengaluru after a 27-year-old woman alleged that he forced his way into her washroom and exposed himself to her. The incident occurred on Saturday when the agent, identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat, arrived at her residence to deliver a parcel.
According to the woman's complaint, the agent requested to use her washroom. She refused multiple times and suggested he ask male neighbours. However, he reportedly removed his slippers and entered the flat forcibly. The woman, a food vlogger who lives alone, said she switched on her phone camera and kept the main door open out of fear for her safety.
When the agent came out of the washroom, she alleged, he exposed his private parts. 'I felt violated, humiliated, and completely unsafe in my own home,' she said. She shared a video about the incident on Instagram to raise awareness.
Police arrested Kamat, a native of Belagavi district, based on her complaint. During questioning, Kamat admitted to entering the washroom but denied exposing himself, claiming he needed to relieve himself.
The e-commerce company Flipkart, which employed the agent through a third-party logistics provider, said it terminated his engagement immediately upon learning of the matter. 'As soon as the matter came to our attention, we terminated the engagement of the delivery partner,' the company stated.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety for women living alone, particularly in urban areas where delivery services are common. Police are investigating the incident further.
