Delhi Police Reports 118 Injured, 70 Detained in Parliament March Protests

The Delhi Police released a statement on Monday regarding a march by the CJP (an organisation) towards Parliament, reporting that more than 118 police personnel, including senior officers, sustained injuries during the protest. According to the police, protesters attacked them with stones and other objects, and resorted to large-scale violence.

The statement also said that around 60 protesters were reported injured. The police accused the protesters of displaying unruly, aggressive, and violent behaviour, refusing to disperse despite repeated warnings, and deliberately violating prohibitory orders in force. They further alleged that protesters attempted to breach police barricades, vandalised police and other government vehicles, damaged public property, and posed a serious threat to public order and security arrangements.

In response, the police detained 70 protesters. The march was intended to press for demands related to the CJP's cause, though the police statement did not elaborate on the specific demands. The incident highlights ongoing tensions around protests in the national capital, where authorities often impose restrictions to maintain public order.

The Delhi Police reiterated that lawful directions were issued to the protesters, who were expected to disperse peacefully. Instead, the situation escalated into violence, leading to injuries on both sides. The police are investigating the incident and have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement.
