Delhi Police Personnel Injured in Chilli Powder and Brick Attack After Bike Seizure

Three Delhi Police personnel were injured on Saturday after a group of people allegedly attacked them with bricks and sticks and threw chilli powder into their eyes. The incident took place during a confrontation over the seizure of a motorcycle in the Janta Vihar area of Mukundpur, Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area.

According to Delhi Police, the personnel were carrying out routine patrolling and checking when they seized a motorcycle that was allegedly being operated without valid documents. The vehicle was taken to the police station.

At around 3:30 pm, the owner of the motorcycle and his family members confronted the police personnel over the seizure. The situation escalated quickly, with the group allegedly throwing chilli powder at the policemen and attacking them with bricks and sticks. Two head constables, Dinesh and Rajesh, were initially attacked. Head Constable Tinu, who reached the spot to assist them, was also assaulted.

All three policemen sustained injuries in the attack. Head Constable Dinesh suffered a head injury. The injured personnel were provided medical treatment and are stated to be stable.

With the assistance of local residents, police apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile from the spot. The remaining accused managed to flee, and efforts are underway to trace them.

Delhi Police identified Sunil alias Pankaj as the main accused and alleged aggressor. Police said Pankaj is a known criminal in the area and has five previous criminal involvements, including cases related to heinous offences and two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).

A case has been registered at Bhalswa Dairy Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining accused.
