Delhi Metro Shuts 16 Stations as Security Tightens Ahead of CJP Protest

The Delhi Metro temporarily closed 16 stations on Wednesday as a security precaution ahead of a planned protest by the organisation known as CJP. The closures affected key stations across the central area of the city, disrupting travel for thousands of commuters.

The stations that remained closed include: Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium.

These stations serve as major hubs for office-goers, tourists, and residents. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) advised passengers to use alternative routes and plan their journeys accordingly. No official statement was issued regarding the duration of the closures, but similar measures in the past have typically lasted for the duration of the protest.

The protest, called by the CJP, is expected to draw a significant crowd, prompting authorities to heighten security in the vicinity. The Delhi Police have also deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order.
