Delhi High Court, five other locations get bomb threats ahead of I-Day
The Delhi High Court and five other locations in the national capital received bomb threats on Friday (August 14, 2026), officials said. The threats come amid heightened security arrangements ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
According to officials, the Delhi High Court received a threat via email for Saturday (August 15, 2026). The email, titled 'BOMB Blast Delhi High Court @ 2:11PM', warned of a blast at the court premises at 2:11 p.m. on August 15. It also threatened explosions at district courts in Delhi at 3:11 p.m. on the same day.
Despite the threat, there was no immediate disruption to judicial work, and court proceedings at the Delhi High Court continued as per the usual schedule.
In addition to the High Court, five other locations received bomb threats through phone calls. These include Jamnagar House, Jhandewalan Building, the MB Road Saket office, Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Delhi Cantonment.
The Delhi Fire Services Department received information about these calls between 11.18 a.m. and 11.40 a.m. and rushed fire tenders to all five locations. Authorities said no suspicious items have been found so far.
Security agencies have intensified monitoring of sensitive installations and public places in view of the Independence Day celebrations. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
