Delhi Govt Sanctions Rs 264 Crore to Upgrade 75 CM SHRI Schools
The Delhi government has approved a Rs 264 crore project to upgrade 75 CM SHRI schools across the city, including renovation of boundary walls, classrooms, painting, lighting, and sports facilities. The proposal was cleared by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, with Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and Education Minister Ashish Sood in attendance.
The project aims to address critical infrastructure issues such as seepage and dampness in school buildings through waterproofing, interior and exterior painting, plaster repair, and construction or repair of boundary walls and fencing. Additionally, toilets and drinking water facilities will be upgraded, sewerage and drainage systems improved, and sports facilities developed where needed. Rainwater harvesting systems will be repaired, multipurpose halls renovated, and other repair works undertaken as required.
Chief Minister Gupta stated that the entrance gates of schools will be redesigned to feature the new CM SHRI logo along with the school name. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, according to officials. This initiative is part of the broader CM SHRI scheme, which aims to transform Delhi government schools into model institutions.
