Delhi Government Withdraws Work from Home, Staggered Timings as Situation Normalises

New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday ordered the withdrawal of work from home (WFH) and staggered office timings for Delhi government offices, citing a normalisation of the geopolitical situation.

The measures were introduced in May following an austerity push by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conserve energy amid the war in Iran.

“Now that the geopolitical situation has practically normalised, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved the withdrawal of work from home on Wednesday and Saturday,” her office said in a statement.

The staggered timings introduced earlier have also been revoked. Government employees will now follow regular office hours from Monday to Friday.

The rollback comes as energy supplies have stabilised and the conflict in Iran has de-escalated. The original measures were part of broader efforts to reduce power consumption and ease pressure on energy resources.

Officials said the decision was taken after a review of the current situation and consultations with relevant departments. The government will continue to monitor developments and may reinstate measures if necessary.
