Cyberabad Police Rescue 127 Children, Apprehend 15 for Indecent Acts
In a week-long operation targeting child trafficking and labour, the Cyberabad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) rescued 127 children between July 18 and July 24. The operation, part of the statewide 'Operation Muskaan,' resulted in the registration of 24 cases under the Juvenile Justice Act and child labour laws across the Commissionerate limits. Of the rescued children, 122 were boys and five were girls.
During the same period, the Cyberabad SHE Teams conducted 118 decoy operations and apprehended 15 individuals for indulging in indecent acts in public places. According to the weekly report from the Women and Child Safety Wing, 11 petty cases were registered against those apprehended, while the remaining individuals were counselled. The SHE Teams also received 20 complaints from women through various channels during the week.
The Family Counselling Centres and the Centre for Domestic and Emotional Wellbeing (CDEW) facilitated the reunion of 23 families involved in marital disputes.
The wing also carried out awareness programmes across various locations in the Cyberabad commissionerate, reaching around 3,493 participants. The sessions covered issues including human trafficking, child trafficking, eve teasing, social media harassment, child marriages, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyberbullying and cyber frauds. Participants were also educated about emergency and support services such as Women Helpline (181), Child Helpline (1098), emergency response numbers 100 and 112, and the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930).
